Five Things About Me In A Flash

I was tagged about a week ago and I'm finally delivering the goods :)

My Friends Are My Happiest Moments:
I'm exceedingly loyal and have friends that I've known since I was a kid. Getting a big gang get together and putting on a show in the 'barn' is where I was at growing up.Being there for your friends doesn't always mean they are going to show you the same protectiveness but I've been lucky and made good choices. I have platonic male friends whose girlfriends are also my buddies and best gal pal moms who would take a hot wheels across the hand for me. There have been a few times when I was not a decent friend I have not forgotten those rare but bad mistakes. My friends are the gold standard for everything else in my life.

I Lose it When I Deal With SBC Yahoo/DSL: Unflattering to admit but true. The infernal maze of voice mail, trouble tickets and terminal hold has many of us justifiably riled and writhing. It took two tech guys, six hours and about two weeks to get my connection up.(See? Sbc can even make the plot of a cool 70's porn sound bad, they are evil incarnate) My anger is still awful though, I could just sit there on the phone for three hours with tech support and just be 'chill' right?

I've Finally Slowly Started Dressing Like a Sophisticate: Gradually I'm getting higher necklines, nicer shoes, Armani sunglasses, Chloe Paddington bag ala Rachel Fuller...When I finally get it all together I should look pretty chic ( and broke!)! But I can never find shoes that fit: For any girl that can just waltz into a shoe store, and find your size, never EVER take that for granted!!

England is where I'm The happiest: Past life stuff? Who fan thing? A place where I'm welcome? Desperate for decent tea? I'm not sure but I love that storied realm. I have a birthmark on my left thigh that is shaped exactly like England so the fairies had designs on me finding my way back. Many happy adventures await!

Public Speaking: I was a Lion's Club and Rotary speaker as a teen and then went on to speech and debate in college. I wanted control over my topics and prose so I ended up butting heads with the department directors who thought that reading Dougal Butler's 'Full Moon' was just not up there with Albee and Miller. I'm now working on a speech about Paul Robeson, hoping to fill out my FBI file some more.

Welcome back, Super Girl!
We missed you here in cyberspace!

Thanks for the revelations. Good detail.
As for #1, I'll have to qoute Ms. Midler:

"And I am all alone.
There is no one here beside me.
And my problems have all gone.
There is no one to deride me.

But you got to have friends.
The feeling's oh so strong.
You got to have friends
to make that day last long.

I had some firends but they're gone,
somethin' came and took them away.
And from the dusk 'til the dawn
here is where I'll stay.

Standing at the end of the road, boys,
waiting for my new friends to come.
I don't care if I'm hungry or poor,
I'm gonna get me some of them.

'Cause you got to have friends.
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, friends.
That's right you, oh you, yeah you,
I said you gotta have some friends,
I'm talkin' about friends, that's right, friends.
Friends, friends, friends.

I had some firends, oh, but they're all gone, gone,
someone came and snatched them away.
And from the dusk until the very dawn, you know,
here is where I gotta stay, here is where I gotta stay.

And I'm standing at the end of a real long road
and I'm waiting for my new friends to come.
I don't care if I'm hungry or freezin' cold,
I'm gonna get me some of them.

'Cause you gotta have friends,
that's right, friends, friends.
I gotta me my, I gotta me my, I gotta me my,
look around and see all of my friends.
Oh, friends, that's right, friends, friends,
friends, friends, friends, friends, oh,
friends, you gotta have friends . . ."

XO
Sue, who took down most of her blog again, stuck for ideas, but will come back swinging!

BTW,
Have you seen the Kooba bags?
They are fab, cool and happening, but a fraction of the cost.

Friends yes, and England yes! English friends, wow.

Not to dig up the hatchet, but did sbc wipe out your Email? They mine to last June (a few months ago). I'm afraid I'll experience another round when I move.

It's nice to have you back. You missed the hackers and mild mud slinging and a few drop outs and a few comebacks. But I've missed your writing style.

SuperAmanda,

Ah, what I'd give to be able to go out and get a decent cup of tea. In fact, what I do go through. I've found a place 4 blocks from the train station, where I can get a half decent cuppa first thing in the morning. Still not like what I make at home though! ;)

Being without a computer is a drag. Glad to see you are back! We all missed you.

Hey hey Amanda!

Glad to see you back in blogland! You are in a happy situation with your gang of friends. I've got a few I've known for about a decace, and there's nothing more important. As for England: I don't know if I love it as a country but as you've noticed I seem to veer towards English things in my tastes. :-)

When you finish your piece on Robeson, I'd love to read it! As wonderful as the other things I've read of yours are, it will be stunning!

Hi Amanda,
Welcome back. Nice tag list. I think it's wonderful that you've kept your friends for such a long time- that's a rarity indeed in this everchanging world.

I have a birthmark that resembles the Carribean island of Hispanola (Dom. Rep. and Haiti). Maybe the winter's been too long already. :)

Yep, glad to see you!
And thanks for the sweet words at my blog, they helped cheer me up.:)
Hey, I relate to your Anglophilian(?)
ways, my brother and I spoke in English accents to each other from the age of about 9,10 -actually, we still do that occasionally. lol
We were so in love with everything English.

And the foot thing, I hear you. I have big feet too, size 10. Yep. I'm tallish, too. That's my excuse. 5 7",
The bigger the sizes, the less cute and less selection there is. It sucks! :(

Mature? You're not mature! You're a Sophisto-Derelict . . .

Welcome back, Amanda. As for your post, I admire any man who could possibly be content in a platonic relationship with you. ( I suspect they never were.)

Alas, I've never--well, never say never--been able to remain entirely pure in my aims in a friendship with a beautiful woman.

Which is a virtue of cyberspace. It allows our brains to interact; albeit on a very low order, without the oppressive weight of mortal flesh. Oh joy. (sigh)

Cheers

Dang, I would love an eclaire! I brought slices of bread to make toast (at work). And jam! I'm happy to share, if you'd like some.

Thanks, as ever.

No question. It's Cinderella by a mile: Identity-masking, a fairy godmother, and a foot-fetish.

The Nutcracker is the only thing that surpasses it, which is not a fairly tale I gather.

Can you believe PT has penned a Who song called "Cinderella" for the new album? Wonder where he's going with that . . .

I actually have gone up a half a size in shoes and it is getting harder to get them I find. Internet shopping only finds me sending them back for a different size so I feel your pain! lol
