My First Day: London

After a very long flight in which I somehow ended up in very baggy clothes and "big, clunky" boots that don't stay laced up properly, that really embarrased my friends and which I now want to hurl into a fire, I found myself in a Radio cab with my two best friends Robin and Brian leaving Heathrow for St.James Place in London.

I STILL DON'T BELIEVE I'M HERE IN ENGLAND!

The lions at Trafalgar square and The Nelson Column are scaffolded but it was still so wonderful to stroll five minutes and see Eros in the middle of all the chaos..which reminds me that I should not be at this computer too much longer and go out and enjoy the rainless sky. Can't get over this lovely weather
CHEERS!!

Hullo hello 'Manda.

You have timed your London trip better than ours. We touched down just hours after the terrible tube bombings of 7/7. It was chaos, driving a rental car through the City. We were in a mad rush to make it to my terminally ill mother-in-law's bungalow in the fishing villiage of Lowestoft; 3 hours North of London. We arrived just one hour before she passed; it was as if she was waiting for us.

I envy your trip! We are planning to return this July for the Hyde Park Festival; that is, unless we opt for one of the later-July Spanish concerts instead. Tough choice, but reality won't let us do both.

By the way, I can't recommend renting a car in London. I paid over $300 to the crown in parking tickets alone. And don't get me started on the per day vehicle tax or camera-speed traps!

Send pictures! I'd love to have one of you and Rach!
